We love our current website but we've got some much going on nowasdays - from You Tube vidoes to photoshoots, Facebook pages, Twitter feeds and blog articles that we need a way to suck all that info into our website so that you never miss athing!

Sooo, as of mid/end February we'll have a brand new webiste. We're working with our social media and digital agency Coup Media to create a beautiful, action pacvked site that will really showcase everything we do at Burlesque - and all in 1 place. We can't wait. Watch this space :)

After a year away from the studios last year, we were back to it last month, shooting our new collection for the British Hair Dressing Awards (among others)!

We travelled down to London to work with hair photography legend, John Rawson, and held our castings at Mayfair's The Academy Buildings.

The last time we work with John Rawson we scooped a finalist position at the esteemed British Hairdressing Awards, and we WON the UK Goldwell Trendzoom competition, which took us to the Globals in Vegas (see the video here), so we're hoping for more of the same this year!

But it all starts with the casting, and we had to whittle 100 top models down to just 6. It was a very long and tough job (no, really)! But here's the six we decided on and now it's all about styling, hair and getting the very best for this year's awards. Wish us luck over on our Facebook page. xx

If you find a trip to the salon even that little bit stressful, then once again it's Burlesque to the rescue. Because every Thursaday and Saturday, we're offering clients an Indian Head Massage before your appointment. 

For those of you who aren't sure what that means... Indian head massage is based on the ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. It provides relaxation and healing on a daily basis, and traditionally plays a part in rituals such as weddings and births, (not to mention everyday events like a trip to the barber). So book in for a Thursday or Saturday and experience the power of relaxation!

You've seen the building site, now take a look at the finished article! We finally opened our newly rennovated salon floor last month with a fab opening evening. Take a look at the images below to see where it started and how it finished!

We'll use the top floor for you guys and girls, for our growing training arm, to shoot monthly demo videos and loads more, not to mention our Sunday openings (10-4 every Sunday from Feb 5)!

It's a busy start to the year for us and we need your help. We will once again enter some of the industry's most prestigious awards ceremonies in 2012 and we are shooting the new collection in February to form our 2012 entries.

Previous years have taken us to London, Paris and Las Vegas to compete on the Global stage and we expect 2012 to bring more of the same. We'll once again work with the world renowned John Rawson, one of the hair industries best photographers and you have the chance to be a part of all this.

How? Here's how...

Head to our Facebook Page today and post a headshot of yourself to our wall. Tell us your name, age and leave us your email address so that we can get in touch.

If you fit the bill we'll ask you into our Newport salon for a casting on Wednesday January 11th at 7pm (yes, next week so you better move fast)!

If we find the right look, the right personality and the right attitude then we'll take two of you to London on either February 6th or 7th to take part in our John Rawson photoshoot. 

Your shots could adorn any number of hair and style magazines, and could form the centre piece of our entries into competitions like The British Hairdresser's Award.

Just to give you a feel for how big this could be, we've had similar shots covered in magazines right throughout the UK and Europe in the past and we're aiming for more of the same this year so get your shots posted to our Facebook pages asap!

We know how busy you all are - and never moreso than at Christmas. We also know that looking ream (!) for the party season is almost as important as Christmas shopping. So how do we fit it all in? Two words... Sunday opening!

Yep from next week, we'll be open on Sundays from 10am - 4pm. Sooo just to be clear, we'll be open on Sunday 11 December and Sunday 18 December from 10-4pm.

How'd you fancy being the face of Burlesque?? Because we're looking for male and female models between ages 17-25 who live within a 20 mile radius of Newport, Caerleon or Usk.

You'll need to be photogenic, commercially fashionable (trendy)! and willing to get invoved and building your portfolio.

On our part, we'll offer... 

• Copies of all your shots for your portfolio, (including shots by John Rawson, the world renowned hair/fashion photographer, The British Hairdressing Awards and other national prestigious competitions)
• Free hairdressing for the duration of your involvement with us
• Extensive travel as a competition model (in the past we have been to London, Las Vegas and Paris as awards finalists)
• Possible appearances in live hair demo's (optional)

If you've passed by or called in recently you've probably noticed a few builders, a little noise, a skip. We apologise for any disruption but we believe this is a small price to pay, as we proudly announce a salon expansion of our first floor! In December this floor will be opened up and it's going to look great! Glass walls is all we're giving away right now.
