Adele Sullivan and Hayley Waters have again struck gold achieving finalist places in "Best Newcomer" and Creative Colourist " respectively. Being at the top of our game and gaining recognition for it means alot to a company like Burlesque, it really gets to the nitty gritty of the creativity happening everyday in our salons and is something that all clients can benefit from.
Aswell as the obvious PR that comes from entering and achieving a finalist position in a competition like this, we must not forget it also makes all of our existing clients realise that their salon is the "right salon". Let's not forget the sheer aspiration it gives to the junior members coming through the salon's training regime. One day it could be them wearing a finalist badge!

This all means that in the past year we've been featured in Hairdressers Journal, In Style, Hair Magazine and Your Hair, as well as reaching the finals of the Goldwell Colourzoom Awards (national and global), British Hairdresser of the year and National Hairdresser Federation Awards AND Hair Image of the Year awards. Phew!
This is a huge compliment to our team here, and is also down in no small part to our great clients - like you. If for some weird reason you're not yet a client, then please come in and see what all the fuss is about. We've got some great promotions for first timers - pop and and find out what they are.
And those of you who are already Burlesquers, we'll shortly announce great new ways for you to get deals on cuts, colours and products shortly. We'll shortly launch too a refer a friend scheme when you'll get rewarded for introducing us to a brand new customer.

Goldwell Trenzoom Finalists - not one but two!!
Two of our talented stylists, Hayley Waters and Adele have achieved finalist positions in the creative stylist best newcomer categories respectively. That means we could be off to Paris if they win, which would be nice. Some of us are just getting over Vegas from last year - check out the video - and keep an eye out for the French sequel!
Here's the collection that got us to the British Hairdresser Awards 2009. We're now working on 2010s flavour!
We've been so busy at Burlesque that it's only now we've had time to share our 2009 British Hairdressers Awards finalists collection with you. Just to recap, last year you may remember that we were finalists in The British Hair Awards, thanks to this collection (below).
The collection is called "Cirque Electro" and was inspired by Burlesque's early roots, bringing together an 80's flamboyancy with a current urban feel that had to marry high fashion and commercial.
The collection helped us to achieve regional finalist position at the Brithish Hairdressers Awards 2009 - something that all salons aspire to. We had a great trip to the finals ceremony in London, with none other that Dermot O'Leary hosting the event!
Images from the collection have featured in all the top hair consumer magazines, including Hair, Hair Now, Hair ideas, Perfect Hair and most importantly The Hairdressers Journal, the industry Bible!!! Apart from the kudos the these awards bring, we were especially proud because the entire team at Burlesque were involved in the creation of the collection, and everyone had a part to play from creating mood boards, attending art team meetings, and fully contributing to the concept right through to delivery of the completed collection.

We love developing new talent at Burlesque, and a massive part of our company spirit is built on bringing young talent through the ranks. To help them cut their teeth in the industry, we expose our Junior Stylists to all aspects of the work they'll be expected to undertake when they become top hair bods.
That means working with models under pressure, with people looking on, knowing that their work will be scrutinised. It's something Burlesque are keen for all our up and coming team members to get a taste for, and something that really pushes their new found talents to the max.
And we're going to continue developing our young stylists - in fact we've started renovating the top floor of our flagship Newport to turn it into a working photo studio to really spark those creative talents. We'll post photos of the development in our blog and across Facebook as things develop.
As for the trainee photo shoot, the day was a huge success, and the shots will speak for themselves. Remember that these are trainees - some as young as 16 - we think it's a great achievement.
Katie Davison and the National Hair Federation - didn't she do well!
Another month, another award here at Burlesque Towers! Our very own Katie Davison has been honoured recently by being named a finalist in the National Hair Federation Awards. Well done Katie, we're all dead proud of you!
We'll add this accolade to the British Hairdressers Finalists place, the National Goldwell Trendzoom win, and the International Goldwell Trendzoom Finals we visited in Vegas last year... And of course, we'll keep you posted on any more awards we win (or nearly win)!
Newport's Top Model - Voice magazine and us
It’s that time of year again! Yes, that’s right - we’re looking for our face! After the phenomenal success of last year’s competition, we have again teamed up with Voice Magazine to find the successor to the title NP’s Next Top Model! Last year’s face, Nicole, was a dazzling success on the catwalk, and with Voice readers alike. She received more than 70,000 votes and enjoy catwalk stints, full studio photo shoots and much, much more. This year, we’re looking for something extra special. We’re searching for a model that won’t look out of place on the pages of Vogue or Vanity Fair. We want someone who portrays the image of Voice and Burlesque perfectly – someone edgy, sophisticated and cool. Last year we had hundreds of entries, which were whittled down to ten finalists – and this year will be no different. A panel of judges from Burlesque and Voice will select this year’s finalists from the entries and the winner will be chosen by Voice readers. Entrants must be 16 or over and we welcome any shape, size and of course, girls and boys! The chosen lady’s winner will win a bumper collection of goodies including: free hair care and design at Burlesque for six months and a load of Goldwell and GHD goodies, a treat from Heaven Sent Day Spa and the chance to work with Newport Initiative.
